‘wotu chair’ by dante bonuccelli
‘wotu chair’ by argentinean designer dante bonuccelli is the result of a design process that aimed to minimize on the waste of raw material. made for lamm‘s UMUL (use more use less) project, the chair is constructed out of several layers of beech wood. the structure is created by folding the layers back onto themselves, which create a hollow tube of natural wood.
made out of trees that exclusively originate from certified forests, the artificial beech wood tubes are manufactured by a company then assembled together with internal connections, also made out of wood. the leftover material from the manufacturing process is burnt, creating electricity which, when paired with photovoltaic panels, accounts for 90% of production energy requirements.
