french-born and tokyo-based designer and architect emmanulle moureaux has created ‘sticks’, an in-store installation for issey miyake. consisting of 411 white and coloured sticks of different lengths, their assembled form connects and provides circulation to the store space, all the while lending a new appearance to the long window front.
inspired by ‘mikado’, a european children’s game, the sticks seem to be positioned randomly, creating tension and chance balances, which were designed to become tangible forms. the resulting form is structurally balanced despite its unbalanced and chaotic appearance.
