‘topa’ by spanish lighting producer B.Lux
B.Lux’s brand new street light.
topa is a new type of urban / street lighting which,
monolithic and boasting sharp, architectural lines,
manufactured by spanish lighting company B.Lux.
it’s made of a metallic prism which creates a
light-filled hollow and projects a beam of light outwards
(so the light
doesn’t shine in all directions). it was designed by the architects GC studio whose aim
was to create a pleasing effect of light and shade in
street settings –
and enhance a sense of wellbeing in urban
environments.
made of galvanised steel, although also available
with a painted surface, it’s extremely resistant to weathering.
and its
neutral style means that it suits all types of contemporary
architecture.
topa has already been used for a new re-housing
development in north spain’s basque country,
which makes use of several
versions of the new light.
