barcelona-based japanese designer hiroshi tsunoda has developed two new lighting products for spanish brand designcode.‘chibi’
‘chibi’ is a word the japanese use to call something small, with affection. in this design, simplicity becomes a new way of representing the iconic forms of a lamp. the main idea behind ‘chibi’ was to create a product that was easy to build yourself. simple manufacturing was used to produce it – a laser cut iron sheet is folded without any kind of assembling, glue or screws.

‘nona’
‘nona’ is designed as a gift. its packaging hides the collared part of the lamp and all its components, making it a product that doesn’t need to be wrapped. the shape is suggestive of a panettone cake whose resulting design achieves a surprising play on light and shadows with organic and geometric patterns. ‘nona’ is a light box, a white retro illuminated volume that, due to the reflections on its base, radiates slightly tinted light.
