designboom’s friend, masayuki kurokawa has sent us info about his new project, a web-site about design incubation that he has developed called ‘design proposal‘. the online platform invites designers from around the world to propose their creative ideas to different manufacturing companies.

‘design-proposal’ acts as a means of connecting culture (design) and industry (makers). thus far the initiative consists of five ‘member companies’ (manufacturing technology firms): H concept, muji, idea international, union and K who provide product briefs through the web-site. designers from around the globe are invited to submit their responses to the various companies’ posted briefs, connecting and networking with these participating firms to promote their work. ‘design-proposal’ is always open to getting new companies to get involved and join the site.

the organization is operated by designtope co. LTD, and its committee includes: shin azumi / a studio, hidemi nagoya / h concept, george amano / george creative company, takashi yajima / muji, takenao shishikura / idea international, masanori tamura / sempre, nosigner and masayuki kurakawa / K.

‘manufacturers who design and distribute their own products around the world’ become members, to collect ideas to be merchandized. ‘design-proposal’ functions as ‘a platform for production’ in which designers and manufacturers become acquainted through ideas.

masayuki kurokawa will be participating as part of the designboom curated ‘soban’ exhibition organized by the seoul design foundation, on the occasion of the seoul world design capital 2010‘s seoul design fair.
