not new, but never properly introduced, … functional jacuzzis made of fiberglass and cardboard, by mike bouchet, 2005
‘I approach each jacuzzi as a sculptural object, a spatial container, a space with light and water, a response to context and appropriateness of feeling and spirit. to this container, this sculpture, the user brings his baggage, his program, and interacts with it to accommodate his needs; If he can’t do that, I’ve failed. I think my best skill as a designer is the achievement of hand-to-eye coordination; I am able to transfer a sketch into a model into the jacuzzi.’
mike bouchet was born in 1970, in castro valley/ california the artist lives and works in new york city and frankfurt, germany.
