hand-stitched vogue cover by inge jacobsen
the hand-stitched pieces by UK-based artist inge jacobsen turn commercial images into unique, handmade creations. in her most recent series, jacobsen embroiders directly onto vogue magazine covers, allows some of the image to show through as background colouring against the weaves of thread.
much of jacobsen’s greater body of work involves the manipulation of advertisements and magazine pages, selectively stitching colours and patterns over the human form in a manner reminiscent of john baldessari’s found photographs.
