emerging colorspace: robotic drawings by sonice development

thousands of painted lines made up of different tones and hues form an increasingly dense landscape of chroma in ’emerging colorspace’: a robotic drawing installation by german studio sonice development. presented during the ‘red never follows’ exhibition at saatchi gallery london, the autonomously wandering machine scales up and down on vertical surfaces, applying paint to the wall using a marker. following simple algorithmic rules with random elements of spontaneity, the device generates a continuously changing facade that infinitely transforms the interior fabric of the gallery space.
