comprising tables, chairs and stools, a new collection of pieces by internationally acclaimed architect zaha hadid is set to go on display at london’s david gill gallery. the range, which is designed to resemble ice formations, is an extension of the original ‘liquid glacial’ series from 2012. in addition to the previously existing furniture objects, a new range of stools and a centerpiece bowl have also been created.

as with hadid’s previous collaboration with the gallery, the geometry of the items appears transformed from motionless to fluid by the subtle waves rippling below the material’s surface. without compromising functionality and ergonomic requirements, the design seeks to embed an inherent formal complexity with hadid’s signature fluid forms. all pieces are made from clear as well as blue-colored acrylic material, milled and hand-polished to create a pristine finish.

‘since 2007, our collaborations with david gill have given us the opportunity to explore new ideas in a variety of scales and media,‘ explains hadid. ‘the liquid glacial series has pushed the boundaries of materiality and innovation; part of the process of our on-going design investigation.’
