zaha hadid has designed a christmas bauble for the matthew williamson curated christmas tree that is being displayed at aqua shard until december 31st, 2013. the festive decoration is part of the charity auction for kids company, a not-for-profit organization that provides practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children. 

the ornament is a reinterpretation of the hadid’s research in which she has conceived a contemporary representation of a traditional decorative object. manufactured using rapid prototyping technology and materials, the piece is a digital creation representing current techniques employed in the field of architecture, design and research.
