‘yanomani’ cultural shoes by breno cintra

using the brazilian aboriginal tribe yanomani as reference, firenze-based designer breno cintra has developed a pair of wooden shoes that integrate cultural influences from their daily rituals. as warriors, they use to paint their bodies and for each event there is a specific painting: fighting, hunting, marriage, death. every indigenous ritual is portrayed in the body in the form of paint – an intense artistic expression of the indians. the shoes reflect the characteristics of their temporary architecture, which is traditionally constructed mainly of thatched palm leaves and wood.
