the wood watch by portland-based studio grovemade was designed in collaboration with stefan andrén and built exclusively using premium american hardwoods. the timepiece is made with circular hands that revolve through twelve round windows, forming eclipse-like shapes to subtly communicate the hours and minutes as they pass. for its construction, the watch integrates a japanese movement for precision timekeeping, a custom internal timekeeping module which holds the movement, a machined stainless steel casing and a vegetable-tanned leather for the strap, which is available in three different shades. unlike other timepieces, the wooden element becomes the center piece up front, instead of being hidden behind the glass counterpart.
