osmothèque is an interactive laboratory that translates whatsapp messages into smell. it is based on a language created by using four olfactive families, that allows you to smell a whatsapp message where it has its own composition and visual representation in the form of a graph. 0smothèque ‘II’ enables you to choose a message of your choice and make your own fragrance based on adjectives and emotions associated with each olfactive family. the user decides and thinks about the emotional weight their digital conversation has, making them aware of the way we have come to use our digital resources. ultimately osmothèque challenges the way people communicate digitally and makes them question themselves and think, how would ‘I love you’ smell like? Or how would a conversation between two people in an argument smell? people need to remember that more than half of our communication is nonverbal, therefore osmothèque is completely analogical and tries to make use of our sensitive sense of smell in an active and not passive way.
