whocares?! design builds ice bed with Dupont™ Corian®

who cares?! design is a small, four person creative studio and architecture firm based in vienna, austria. as a result of constantly challenging design processes and rethinking standard ‘everyday objects’, the team created the ‘ice bed’. looking at it, the name seems fitting. the bed hovers in the middle of the room like an iceberg, giving an air of exquisiteness mixed with a hint of foreboding. LED lights run from the base of the structure, up and around to the top of the room. a second set runs along the room’s countertop and can change colors on command. external and internal storage are added to the form, including a set of drawers that run underneath the bed. the entire structure was created with Dupont™ Corian® adding nicely to the aesthetic, and feel, of ice.
