‘kontur’ by fritz und franken is a modular storage system capable of being integrated within the context of residential lounge areas and office workspaces. its simple construction requires no tools, as stability is ensured by side-mounted runners and skids placed along the opening edges of each cube. with a 3:4 ratio in reference to the dimensions of standard file folders, this prevents any lateral shift as everyday objects such as shoes, books, and toys are placed within the enclosed spaces. cool shades of blue and green coat the boxes composed of polyrey high pressure laminate, a material made of 65% paper. by using this renewable wood resource, the structure is in compliance with the environmental standards of europe as it is damp-proof and easy to clean with a low electrostatic charge and no dirt build-up. the work fulfills the functional need for multiple horizontal and vertical arrangements, giving room for interior concepts in which the owner becomes the designer.
