founded by mexican architect fernando romero and his wife soumaya slim in 2012, ‘archivo diseño y arquitectura’ is a cultural space located in mexico city that promotes, exhibits, revises and broadcasts design in its many outlets. the archive consists of two collections: one of no less than 1500 national and international industrial design icons, and another one of bibliographical holdings dedicated to the architectural discipline. both are open to the public monday through friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm, and saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm free of charge.

the archive has established itself as a precedent and referent for the design community and enthusiasts, working with various curatorial and exhibition frames, contests, colloquy, and activities that beget critical exchanges within our own context. the aim is to integrate the academic and creative community with the public to continuously design ‘archivo’s’ identity and continue to establish the initiative as the pioneer for design revision in mexico and internationally.

the singularities of ‘archivo diseño y arquitectura’ have been configured through a constant dialogue between industrial designers, architects, plastic artists, curators and specialized advisors. as it examines design’s guidelines and interpretations, the initiative remains critical of contemporary production, while assuming itself as a creative and innovative enterprise.
