wästberg has collaborated yet again with stockholm-based architecture and design trio claesson koivisto rune for their latest lighting collection. the w151 series is comprised of human scale aluminum LED pendants in three different conical shapes – the tall and narrow, the archetypical and the low and wide. based on the most basic of geometrical shapes – the cone – the lamps are designed to hang from the ceiling, often above a table, creating the effect of a ‘room within a room’.
‘with w151 we’re bringing back the room-shaping quality – not with one lamp, but three,’ explains CKR. based on the most basic of geometrical shapes – the cone – all three are super-sized, pushing the limits of manufactured, spun aluminium, yet fitting through a normal doorframe. paired with careful control of the fine details and the paper-like matt finishes, the lamp is almost illusory; dream-like – when experienced in reality.’ the collection will be presented for the first time during the 2015 stockholm furniture & light fair in february.
