in a quest to design and create an ideal backpack that would look stylish both in the city and the office, two london-based architects at chivote have created ‘2face’, a two-sided, handcrafted leather backpack. currently seeking funding on kickstarter, the bag is available in nubuck, redrum and black full grain and vegetable tanned italian leather – including the straps – and features more than enough padded pockets and storage compartments to keep all your electronic goods such as laptops and other accessories safe during daily commutes.

to switch between the embroidered, and non-embroidered side, simply unhook the straps from one face and attach them to the other using metal hooks. in under five seconds, you’ll have a completely new backpack.

‘we have always found backpacks to be one of the most comfortable ways to carry things around but as we grew up we realised that existing bag designs often don’t match with all styles of clothing,’ explain the architects. ‘while one backpack may look good for walking around the city or heading to the gym, the same backpack will often look out of place for going to work, so we decided it was time to change this.’
