the small table lamp ’round’ by heidelberg-based designer bao-nghi droste consists of a dome-shaped diffuser and gently curved steel tube. emitting a wide ray of light from its cone shade, the satinised acrylic piece produces a brightly illuminated space in front of it. the object’s stem depicts the flow of electric current all the way up from the base to the light source inserted in its concave form. the handle-bar-like geometry is set within a round platform with the ability to rotate on its axis, making the element easy to focus and move into different positions. the hole where the steel tube enters the back of the lamp shade has concentrically forming rings to depict an epicenter from where the light is produced.
