for design days dubai 2013, the new york-based designer and architect presented a site-specific installation, ‘city within’ at bloomingdale’s-dubai–the retail giant’s first international location outside of the united states. sheets of corrugated polycarbonate were hung from the ceiling, creating a massive volume. cut-outs were made to open up spaces within, their particular shapes informed by that of skyscrapers and other high-rises which make-up the city landscape. to accompany the grander work, images as well as physical representations of saracino’s work were displayed inside the space.
