with a focus on the contrast between north and south american urban landscapes, víctor enrich has ‘relocated’ new york’s guggenheim museum to bogotá. enrich has placed the frank lloyd wright-designed landmark in the town of rafael uribe uribe, a locality in the southern part of the colombian capital. the series of seven images has been formed by a mixed media of actual architectural photography and computer graphic techniques. the project — titled ‘rafael uribe uribe existe’ after the town, and the 20th century colombian socialist leader whose name it bears — seeks to draw attention to the dichotomy between the two americas. immersed in the urban conditions of this densely populated area, the museum building looks strikingly out of place. while this architectural icon — a symbol of not only new york city, but of north american ideals in general — is seamlessly digitally integrated into its surroundings, its juxtaposition with the landscape acts as a reminder of the differences between the two very different places it inhabits.
