spanish artist remedios vincent experiments with objects that are no longer fit for their original purpose, however, when appropriated to a new context, are granted a new life. the handcrafted collection, titled ‘made to dislike’, has been created using items bought in antique shops, most of them in existence for more than a century – giving them each their own rich history.
each item in remedios vincent’s collection has been used by people who have lived in various parts of the world, the designs attempt to retain their spirit through only subtle interventions. the pieces are not necessarily reserved for the confines of jewellery, but more small objects of art, with a somewhat macabre charm.
