liudas parulskis' vanishing trolleybus blends into the urban landscape of vilnius, lithuania

liudas parulskis has been invited by creative placemaking agency studio vieta to collaborate on the 4th edition of the vilnius street art festival in lithuania by creating an artwork on the city’s trolleybuses. while this mode of transportation has become a rare sight in most contemporary metropolises, vilnius — lithuania’s capital — still maintains a running fleet that adds a lot of character to the cityscape.

liudas parulskis has formed an optical illusion in the streets of vilnius through the installation of ‘vanishing trolleybus’. a perspective image of a street has been printed on both of the vehicle’s sides. once a day — while crossing tumo vaizganto street and gediminas prospect intersection — the trolley ‘disappears’ from view by camouflaging itself into the urban landscape. parulskis has added a wolf crossing the road to the composition  — a symbolic animal of vilnius since its founding more than a thousand years ago. this project for the vilnius street art festival in collaboration with studio vieta invites pedestrians and passersby to observe the trolleybus at its vanishing point, and capture a unique moment in time.
