there are, undoubtedly, many versions of the self. at different times throughout the course of the day, week and year, people swiftly change their minds about what to do, what to eat, how to dress, where to go…the possibilities are infinite. what if these various identities could exist in the real world with each other? photographer daisuke takakura set out to visually capture the internal dialogue with our various selves, creating images that speak to the multiple personalities we each bear.

the theater style known as ‘monodrama’ usually involves just one actor, playing one character. this was the starting point of the series ‘monodramatic’, which is made through the union of standard photography and graphic design. takakura clones a single subject within the frame through their careful placement and post-production techniques. the result sees the same person at varied locations throughout the composition, bearing different expressions and participating in a diverse range of activities.
