presented at the casabella laboratorio in milan, ‘the project for the whitney museum by renzo piano building workshop in new york’ has been showcased. curated by italian architectural historian- franceso dal co, the exhibit gives visitors a detailed look and opportunity to physically explore the design process that led to the creation of the new building for the esteemed art museum.

recently opened to the public, the building in the meatpacking district saw the addition of a 170-seat theater, a study center, a multimedia performance space, a conservation center and a library. from each of the building’s nine storeys, views are offered towards the hudson river and into the city, ensuring that a profound sense of place is established.
the exhibition based in milan showcases an extensive range of scale models, maquettes, video, architectural drawings, plans, along with detailed concept and initial sketches by renzo piano himself can be viewed up close. read designboom’s previous article on the whitney museum, new york here.
