‘dalian house’ is a conceptual design by collaborative studio preliminary research office. the residence is a two-story tall structure, and features a ground floor living space, and second floor bedroom. another, smaller section is designed exclusively as a tea room. between the areas, is a transitional area that contains the entrance foyer and staircase.

the exterior structure serves as an envelope that gives the ‘dalian house’ its sculptural form. defining the unit as an independent object, the shell also holds together the many interior elements that are designed to look as if on the brink of disintegration. the building is mainly composed of steel, pre-fabricated modules that are assembled on a foundation on-site. the external shell is made of pre-made, fiber reinforced concrete panels.
