located in the franklin hills neighborhood of los angeles california, is a 200ft2 writer’s studio by aaron neubert architects. deemed the ‘black box’, the minimal, geometric building is made of darkly stained wood and large windows that look out over the rolling landscape.

entrance to the structure is accomplished by a hillside staircase and path that passes through the tree canopy that envelopes the studio. custom fabricated steel doors open to the front platform, which lead directly to a picturesque window and workplace. the positioning of the studio — directly atop the writer’s residence — offers a brief separation between home and work, providing the kick to get thoughts out of the mind and onto the paper.
